A 14-year-old boy has been charged with murder after a man was stabbed to death outside an Asda supermarket.

Ian Kirwan, 53, was attacked outside the superstore on Jinnah Road, Redditch, Worcestershire, at about 7.20pm on Tuesday.

West Mercia Police said a 14-year-old boy had been charged with murder and was due to appear at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Friday (11 March).

Previously police said a total of 11 youths had been arrested in connection with the incident.

Seven have been released with no further action and on Thursday night the force said three, including the 14-year-old charged with murder, remained in custody.

The Asda superstore has now reopened, but police said its Safer Neighbourhood Officers were maintaining a "highly visible presence" in the town.

Officers are asking anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and saw anything or captured anything on a dashcam that could help, to get in touch.
