Boy, 17, left with serious head injury after being attacked by gang in Gloucester Park, Basildon

A teenage boy was left with a severe head injury following a vicious attack in an Essex park. The 17-year-old was attacked in Gloucester Park in Basildon and police have now appealed for witnesses.

The attack took place shortly after 6.55pm on Friday (August 30). He was taken to hospital for treatment but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "It is believed he had been attacked by a group of people who left the area and we need anyone who saw what happened to come forward. If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us.
