X-ray shocker: Boy survives after piercing his eye socket with scissors

A two-year-old boy narrowly escaped being blinded after he accidentally stabbed himself with a pair of scissors.

Wang Jierong found the scissors on a table in his family home in China and began to run around with them.

Unfortunately, he tripped and landed headfirst on the blade tips.

Luckily, the sharp scissors narrowly missed puncturing his left eyeball, but they still pierced the very top of his eye socket.

He was quickly rushed to hospital where doctors performed emergency surgery to remove them.

Doctors at Lanzhou University Hospital said as the dirty scissors could cause other complications the boy was still under close observation, but assured reporters 'he should be no problem now'.
