Boy pushed over and has bike taken by group in balaclavas

A boy was pushed over and had his bike stolen by a group of males in balaclavas at a Leicester park, police have said. An appeal has been launched after the 16-year-old was targeted in Willowbrook Park in Thurncourt.

Leicestershire Police said the incident happened at around 12.30pm on Monday (June 3). It said the boy was approached by four males who were wearing balaclavas and tracksuits.

The teenager was first told to hand over his mobile phone, before the group pushed him over and took his bike, said police. The bike is described as a small, blue, commuter model with white/silver writing on the frame.

Detective constable Zaeema Osman, the investigating officer, said: “As this incident happened in a park shortly after midday, I believe there may have been people who saw what happened. I’m particularly keen to speak to anyone who filmed anything on a mobile phone or who saw a group acting in a manner that seemed unusual or suspicious.
