Boy rushed to hospital after being struck by car before main road taped off

A teenage boy was rushed to hospital after being struck by a car in Bolton on Monday afternoon (September 9). Chorley New Road, in Horwich, was taped off by police after the collision at around 4.20pm.

Police and paramedics attended the incident, off nearby Mottram Street, to reports that the child had been struck by the vehicle. The age of the boy involved has not been confirmed by police.

Witnesses reported running over to the teenager with blankets as other horrified onlookers nearby watched on before the area was sealed off.

Pictures from the scene show a police cordon in place amid investigations. No arrests have been made in connection with the collision.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed they were called to the road traffic collision between the teenage boy and a vehicle at around 4.20pm. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Chorley New Road (A673) remained taped off for a number of hours into Monday evening as investigations into the circumstances of the crash were carried out.

Greater Manchester Police and the North West Ambulance Service have been contacted for a full statement.
