Boy 'stabbed in back' in Clayton attack
Two teenagers have been arrested after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed in Clayton. A 15-year-old boy and and 18-year-old male were arrested on suspicion of assault and taken into custody.
Greater Manchester Police said on Saturday they remained in custody for questioning following the incident in the east Manchester neighbourhood on Friday night (January 17).
Emergency services were called to Ilford Street at around 10.50p. The boy was found with an injury to his back, police said.
He was taken to hospital, although police said thankfully his injuries are not believed to be 'life-threatening or life-changing'.
Enquiries are said to be ongoing, with a single police car remaining at the scene on Saturday. Forensic investigators could also be seen on the street.
In a statement, GMP said: "At around 10.50pm last night (Friday 17, January 2025), we were called to reports of a stabbing on Ilford Street in Clayton, Manchester.
"Officers attended the scene and located a 16 year-old boy with an injury to his back. He was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries that are described as non-life threatening or life changing.
"An 18 year-old man and a 15 year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault and remain in custody for questioning. Enquires are ongoing."
No further details have been revealed and the victim hasn't been named.
