Amazon Prime Video's subversive superhero hit The Boys begins shooting its third season in just a few days.

Showrunner Eric Kripke teased the big update on Twitter on Friday (February 12), when he wrote: "Wanna see how insane I've gone after 2 weeks of Toronto quarantine? Watch my live interview SATURDAY at 2PM ET. We'll discuss #SPN & #TheBoys & screenwriting tips.

"(#TheBoysTV shoots in MERE DAYS btw). Tune in on Sat, link below! #SPNFamily @TheBoysTV."

With this in mind, we're betting that the likes of Billy Butcher, Homelander, Hughie Campbell and Starlight will be back on our screens within the next 12 months or so.

As for what fans can expect from the next load of blood-speckled episodes, it was previously confirmed by Kripke that the infamous Herogasm tie-in miniseries from the original graphic novels will come into play.

In the comics, The Seven and various other Vought 'heroes' whisk themselves off to a secret island.

During this annual company-sponsored event, human participants are paid up to $100,000 to act out some of the super-powered wrongdoers' darkest fantasies.

How much of this will make it into the show it yet to be seen, but we should probably prepare for some seriously twisted action.

The Boys seasons 1 and 2 are available to watch in full on Amazon Prime Video.
