As quick as a flash, The Boys season 2 trailer has been stolen from us just moments after dropping online.

Anticipation for this one has reached the stratosphere after a phenomenally-popular debut season earlier this year, and it appears as though Amazon Studios isn't quite ready for fans to see any footage just yet.

According to CNET, the blood-drenched trailer featured Antony Starr's Homelander descending from somewhere before a carousel of cameos arrive from all of your favourite characters.

Expanding his blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance from season 1, Billy Butcher's sidekick Terror the dog also showed his face in the promotional clip.

While it remains a mystery as to why Amazon took down The Boys trailer, Digital Spy has reached out for comment.

Could it have been an accidental release, and if so, when will we clasp eyes on it again?
