Fans of Brad Pitt have been delighted at the sight of the Oscar-nominated actor sporting a name-badge at this year’s Academy Awards luncheon.

The actor, who is nominated for his performance in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, was spotted wearing the badge that read: “Brad Pitt. Actor in a Supporting Role, Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood,’ apparently as a precaution in case people couldn’t recognise him.

The Oscars lunch, which takes place each year ahead of the film awards ceremony in Los Angeles, was also attended by stars including Cynthia Erivo, Laura Dern, Greta Gerwig, Diane Warren, Leonard DiCaprio, Renee Zellweger and Robert De Niro.

Carey Mulligan recently suggested that the voting system for the Oscars is “not working” and said that voters should have to “prove” they have seen “every single” eligible film.

The actor was discussing how certain films, such as Little Women, Hustlers and The Farewell were snubbed in the 2020 nominations.

Not a single woman was nominated in the Best Director category this year.

“I think they need to be watched,” Mulligan said at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah.

“I wonder if the system works in terms of getting sent 100 screeners. Maybe you shouldn’t be allowed to vote unless you can prove you’ve seen every single one. There should be a test. The films that did get left out are indisputably brilliant.”
