New post office opening is a 'fantastic' addition to the community
The opening of a new Post Office in Lammack has been hailed as a ‘fantastic' addition to the community and residents.
Lammack residents won’t have to travel as far anymore as a new Post Office opened at Lammack Pharmacy & Shop in Whinney Lane, Blackburn, yesterday (September 22).
The new branch offers customers a wide range of Post Office services, from posting letters and parcels to collecting and returning online shopping items.
And instead of travelling to bank branches, all the main UK banks' customers can also take advantage of a wide range of banking services, including cash withdrawals and balance enquiries.
Councillor Tasleem Fazal (Labour, Billinge and Beardwood) believes the new Post Office will bring a breadth of benefits to residents in the area.
He said: “I think its fantastic. Lammack is a great community which has increased by 1,500 to 2,000 people at least with the new housing, so we have to recognise it to be a ward within a ward.
“More important than convenience - we’ve also got a lot of residents in that part of the ward who probably don’t get into town as much as they used to or drive as much as they used to.
"As councillors we are encouraging people to use and walk to local services, and use their community town for the smallest of jobs.
“So, I think it serves a purpose for the demographics in the community that we have, and will provide, a fantastic service to the local residents.”
The new Post Office is open everyday and services are available Monday to Friday from 8am to 7pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 3pm.
This offers customers 67 hours of Post Office services a week making it convenient for customers to visit.
Samuel Williams, Post Office network provision lead, said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for customers to pay their bills, withdraw cash from their bank accounts, and send and collect their mail at a time and place that suits them best.
“We know how important our services are to customers, and we are confident that this brand-new Post Office alongside the branches at Granville Road, Roe Lee and Whalley Range, will ensure that people in the Lammack area have easy access to our services.”
