Ring doorbell cameras have been rising in popularity in recent years, with several incidents being caught on camera in Edinburgh and the Lothians.
In Midlothian, a balaclava-wearing intruder was chased off in October - with footage from a Ring doorbell showing the individual trying the door handle of a home in Easthouses. The homeowner says he was woken by a notification on his app before hearing the door handle being tried as he ran downstairs to scare off the intruder.
