Brazilian teams Flamengo and Vasco da Gama put their differences aside to join forces and help an injured player when the ambulance he was in broke down on the pitch.

Vasco’s Bruno Silva was knocked out in the second half and was helped into an ambulance on the pitch. However what had been a worrying scene soon became a farce, as the vehicle was unable to leave when its engine failed to start.

The incident occurred during Saturday’s match in Brasilia between the two fierce Rio de Janeiro rivals.

Video showed eight players from both teams pushing the ambulance until it started, and it then drove away.

Thankfully Silva was not seriously injured and he was released from hospital later that day after the match finished 1-1.
