Aston Villa have confirmed Lamare Bogarde has signed a new contract with the club. The 20-year-old is highly-rated by Unai Emery, who used him in each of the club's even pre-season friendlies. Bogarde impressed in defence and in a holding midfield role earlier this summer.

There has been interest from elsewhere in signing Bogarde from Villa permanently, but the club wanted to keep him on board. Nottingham Forest's approaches were turned down in this transfer window.

Bogarde joined Villa from Feyenoord in the summer of 2020 and helped Villa win the FA Youth Cup for the first time since 2002 after making is first-team debut against Liverpool in the FA Cup third round in January 2021.

He spent the second half of the 2022/23 season on loan at Bristol Rovers, where he impressed across the 18 league games he played under Joey Barton. He then returned to the Memorial Stadium for the start of last season, but his loan move was cut short in January following Barton's exit.

Bogarde has also earned international honours, representing the Netherlands at U15, U16, U18 and U20 levels.
