Each one of these "edges" offers breathtaking views of different areas of the national park, including the captivating Derwent Valley. After reaching the summit of White Edge, you make your way across to Curbar Edge where on a perfect spring day you will be greeted with blue skies and views of the village below Calver. Froggatt Edge awaits as the final edge.
The gritstone escarpment provides awe-inspiring views and is great for adventurers with the trail getting a little bit difficult in places.
Best route to follow
There are numerous lay-bys and roadside parking spots near White Edge Moor. After parking, you can cross a stile and ascend a gentle gradient, keeping the wired fence to your right.
This path will eventually lead you to White Edge, which you can follow for approximately one-and-a-half miles. Nature enthusiasts should keep an eye out for the deer herds that are often seen in this area.
Upon reaching the end of White Edge, take a path that veers down and to the right, leading you to a stream with a wooden platform for crossing. After crossing the stream, head upwards until you reach the pay and display car park.
From the back of the car park, join a narrow path that leads to the well-defined Curbar Edge path. Continue along Curbar Edge, taking in the impressive rock formations and breathtaking views over Hope Valley. On a clear day, you'll be able to see the villages of Calver, Baslow and even Chatsworth House.
As you walk along Curbar Edge and admire the stunning views, you will eventually descend a short rocky decline to Froggatt Edge. After walking along Froggatt Edge, the open moorland will meet a wooded area at a gate. Continue straight until you reach the road.
Turn right and walk up the road for about 50 metres before crossing and climbing over a stile in the fence. Follow the path after the stile, cross a stream and climb the hill to reach another car park. With the car park to your immediate right, continue along the path through The Haywood trees and after about 100 metres, take a right turn through a gate in the wall, crossing diagonally up the field towards the Grouse Inn pub. From the pub, cross the road and head through the stile back towards White Edge.
After crossing another stile, proceed through a small crop of trees until you meet another path. Turn left and continue for about three-quarters of a mile, passing a solitary house and eventually returning to the start point. For the map for this route click here.
