'Breeding Ground for the Virus': Police Break Up Illegal Rave in London

London’s Metropolitan Police discovered a rave in the vault of a disused bank in Southall in the early hours of March 7, attended by 44 people.

In a statement, police said officers had been on patrol when they heard loud music coming from a derelict building. All those in attendance were issued with £800 fines for breaching the country’s lockdown.

Detective Chief Inspector Thomas Bowen said: “We are all excited about the prospect of returning to normal in June – and some changes to restrictions are imminent – but behaviour like this risks undermining the roadmap out of lockdown and could potentially cause further delays by creating a breeding ground for the virus.” Credit: Metropolitan Police via Storyful
