Brendan Cole might be performing without Dancing On Ice partner Vanessa Bauer this weekend, but he won't be taking his routine any easier than usual - as a photo of a risky move from the training rink shows.
Earlier this week, ITV announced that pro skater Bauer would be unable to take part in Sunday's live show as she had tested positive for COVID.
Luckily, Brendyn Hatfield was available to step in, and former Strictly Come Dancing pro Cole is seizing the opportunity to continue as the favourite in the competition by showing he can be every bit as daring on the ice with a male partner.
Hatfield shared a photo of how their training was getting on which showed that the pair are planning on taking on the infamous headbanger – a move where one partner swings the other around terrifyingly close to the ice by just their ankles.
The move usually sees a male partner swinging a female skater around, but the new couple showed they weren't afraid to make things even tougher as Hatfield, photographed performing the headbanger while Cole clung to his ankles, captioned the snap "working hard".
One impressed fan commented: "Omg I thought brendan would be the 1st to do headbanger with Vanessa. But now hurry up Sunday."
Someone else added: "such trust!", while another person commented: "Wow can't wait for this performance."
Earlier in the week, Cole said: "I am absolutely gutted that Vanessa is unable to skate this weekend. I know she would have put together another fantastic routine.
"However, and with Vanessa’s blessing I’ve been given an amazing opportunity to create something fantastic for Musicals Week with Brendyn. He's an exceptionally talented skater and I have no doubt we will be able to create something really special for the show! I can’t thank him enough for stepping in."
Hatfield said: "I'm thrilled that Brendan asked if I would skate with him this weekend - what an honour! Vanessa is a brilliant choreographer and I've loved watching her and Brendan skate each week.
"I'm looking forward to putting together an exciting routine for this Sunday's show which I'm hoping will impress both the judges and viewers!"
Dancing On Ice: Musicals Week will air on Sunday at 6pm on ITV.
