'Mrs Brown’s Boys' star Brendan O'Carroll makes controversial remark about Tyler Perry's 'colour'
Watch: Brendan O'Carroll make reference to Tyler Perry's colour on live TV
Mrs Brown’s Boys creator Brendan O’Carroll has said he was not sure if Tyler Perry could appear in the BBC sitcom because of his "colour".
The 66-year-old Irish comedian appeared live on The One Show with the Hollywood writer and director, to discuss appearing in the latest instalment of Perry's Madea movie franchise.
Asked if he would return the favour by having Perry, 52, cameo in his hit show Mrs Brown's Boys, O'Carroll replied: "I don't know if we could afford him, he's very expensive.
"And so far we haven't had anybody his colour [gesturing to his face] in there. So I don't know if we could have him in. But you know what, I'd love that."
Perry laughed: "Nobody my colour! Time to change the world. Diversity rules, here we go!"

Yahoo UK has contacted representatives for both stars to comment.
Perry stars in drag as Mabel "Madea" Earlene Simmons in his film series, and O'Carroll cameos — also in drag — as his comedy character Agnes Brown in the latest movie A Madea Homecoming.
As well as writing, directing and starring in his own movies, and the hit sitcom House Of Payne, Perry is also known for starring roles in Hollywood blockbusters Alex Cross, Gone Girl and Star Trek.
Mrs Brown's Boys aired for three series from 2011 until 2013 and since then has continued for Christmas specials.
The sitcom also spawned a spin-off chat show All Round to Mrs Brown’s, which aired from 2017 to 2020, and a feature film Mrs Brown’s Boys D’Movie, which was released in 2014.
O’Carroll stars in the show with his real life family including wife Jennifer Gibney, his children Danny and Fiona O’Carroll, his sister Eilish O’Carroll and his grandson Jamie O’Carroll.
The family were due to take the live show Mrs Bown’s Boys D’Musical to Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the US in 2020, but the world tour was postponed, before the coronavirus pandemic struck, so that O'Carroll could take time off.
