Brexit vote 'delayed': What time is Theresa May's statement today?

Theresa May is set to give a Commons statement amid reports that the Meaningful Vote on her Brexit deal has been called off.

The Prime Minister is reported to have performed a humiliating U-turn after an emergency conference call with ministers.

Speculation has mounted that Tuesday's crunch vote has been called off in a bid to avoid defeat on an unprecedented scale that could prove fatal to her premiership.

When is Theresa May's statement today?

Mr May is set to make an emergency statement in the Commons at 3.30pm.

The Prime Minister's statement will be followed by two more by ministers, the office of Commons Leader Andrea Leadsom said.

Ms Leadsom will provide a Commons business statement before Brexit Secretary Stephen Barclay makes a statement on "EU Exit - Article 50", it said in a tweet.

It comes just hours after the European Court of Justice ruled that the UK can cancel Brexit without the need for permission from the 27 other states.

The timing of this ruling could prove problematic for Mrs May with her deal frequently touted as unlikely to pass Tuesday's vote.

On Monday morning, Environment Secretary Michael Gove and a Number 10 spokesman had insisted that the vote was going ahead, while Brexit Secretary Stephen Barclay said it was 100% happening.

But by 12.20pm, Downing Street said: "The PM will be giving a statement to the House of Commons at 3.30pm. It would not be appropriate to make any comment in advance.”
