Actor Brian Cox dropped as patron for elderly care centre after cannabis comments
Succession star Brian Cox has been dropped as a patron for a Dundee centre for the elderly after he endorsed the use of cannabis.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, the 73-year-old described the drug as "great" and that he would "recommend it to everyone".
Chairwoman for the Mid-Lin Daycare Centre Joyce McIntosh has expressed "disappointment" at the actor's words, explaining that the drug problems in Dundee meant the centre had to distance itself from Cox.

“Dundee is drug-ridden we just can’t support Brian’s views on cannabis," she told The Courier. "We are shocked and disappointed.
“I couldn’t actually believe it when I read the papers – he has a CBE and all these awards and honorary positions, and next thing, we’re seeing that he’s telling people to get stoned.
“It’s absolutely ridiculous and it’s setting a bad example for young people.”
It comes after Cox picked up the award for Best Actor in a Television Series Drama at the Golden Globes for his role as Logan Roy on HBO hit Succession.
He's also recently admitted to being a huge fan of Netflix show The Crown, declaring he was "completely hooked" by the royal drama.
Although he's claimed to have a connection to the royal family himself as he's shared he was once "touched up" by Princess Margaret when he was a young man in his early 20s.
He said of the late Countess of Snowden: “She was an extraordinary creature.”
