Big Brother star Brian Dowling has paid tribute to his mother Rosie, who passed away one month ago.

Rosie died at the age of 61 on Wednesday, February 21 in Rathangan, County Kildare.

At the time, a statement from the Dowlings said: "The Dowling family are heartbroken to confirm the death of their beloved mother Rosie. Brian and his family are devastated by their loss, and please ask for privacy at this difficult time."

Brian has since posted a message on his Instagram account, calling his mother a "Super Woman" who helped shape his life.

"It's hard to believe but one month ago today, you left us, Mum," Brian wrote. "It's been the craziest and most vulnerable few weeks of my life. Thankfully, I am blessed with the most AMAZING family. How we have cried but also laughed, exchanging our stories on you, Mum – the Super Woman who shaped our lives."

The presenter also thanked his close friends for keeping him "strong" and "sane".

"[They are] people who love me, that never judge me, and without each one of them over the last four weeks, I'd have no idea where I would be," he said.

Brian, a former winner of Big Brother, went on to host Channel 5's reality TV series and the celebrity version between 2011 and 2013. Since his exit from the Big Brother franchise, he has gone on to front ITVBe's The Real Housewives of Cheshire.
