Brian McFadden Admits He's Made A Change After ‘Trying To Buy His Children’s Affections’

Brian McFadden has spoken about his parenting style after admitting to, in a way, trying to ‘buy his children’s affections’ in the past.

Brian is dad to Molly, 14, and Lily-Sue, 13, with ex-wife Kerry Katona, and says that he felt guilty when the two split, which led to him trying to make up for it by spoiling them.

He admitted he felt guilty after his split from Kerry, explaining: “When I separated from Kerry, the children went to live with her. And when you spend that much time away from the kids you do get that guilt.

“I moved to Australia and so I did spoil them more. It was almost like I was trying to buy their affections, but when they get older you can’t. They can smell it and play on it.

“I started to notice that the girls would start to regularly text me, and I’d look at my texts and I’d realise that every time they’d text and call now, they were looking for something.

“How I’m changing it now is, if they want something substantial for their birthday or for Christmas, I make them earn half the money themselves, and I’ll then pay the other half.”

The former Westlife singer also spoke about ex-wife Vogue Williams, revealing they’re no longer on speaking terms following their divorce last summer.

He explained: “I’m not in contact with Vogue. Not anymore. I think before there may have been some unfinished business but we have both now moved on.”
