Brian Moore's Full Contact: 'Hopefully La Rochelle signal a swing back to French flair of old'

Martyn Williams joins Brian Moore in the studio this week to look back at an excellent weekend of European rugby action.

Alex Corbisiero tells us what's gone wrong with Northampton Saints recently, and how the game is going down across the Pond.

Ireland's James Downey analyses the provincial sides and which team he expects to see progress. As always, we look back at the Premier 15s and England's Amber Reed goes through the results of round 10.

Plus Mick Cleary unpicks Saracens humiliation by Clermont Auvergne at Allianz Park.

Here are some of the highlights from the episode:

La Rochelle have more ambition, they’re looking for space. My hope is that if they carry on their good form then hopefully we’ll see a swing back to the French flair of old.

Munster are now very effective at the breakdown.

Mallinder’s natural position is not 10, but that’s been apparent for a while and they haven’t addressed this.

There is a lot more to Leinster than Sexton, they wouldn’t suffer inordinately if he weren’t there.

The difficulty with England’s back-three situation is the options are young.

Ospreys could go through!

Brian Moore

Whatever La Rochelle are charging for a season ticket, it isn’t enough!

La Rochelle have picked out some real gems - they’re not just taking the big names.

Like you Brian I want to see La Rochelle win.

Munster know that 9/10 times the referee will side with them. If you’re to have any chance at Thomond Park then the one area you have to get right is the breakdown.

Everybody is scratching their heads over Ospreys. It’s been abject.

I thought Benetton were outstanding .

Wales either win the Six Nations or we finish fifth or sixth.

It fascinates me that with England’s resources they haven’t produced an out and out flanker.

It’s the biggest cliche in the world but you never know how they’re going to perform.

Martyn Williams

Since I left Saints which was two years ago there hasn’t been any change in game plan. Even when I was there the plan didn’t change much.

You need a more expansive game plan in the Premiership now which Saints don’t have.

It’s really difficult for me to be harsh but Saints look completely stagnated and have a limited game plan.

England v Ireland will be the most watched rugby game in America come next year.

Alex Corbisiero

I don’t think the London clubs have a dominance that they used to have.

The coaches and referees need to be of the level we want to play at, gender doesn’t play a big part.

Amber Reed

Clermont Auvergne have had a sense of indignation which has certainly seemed to fire them up!

It’s the worst I’ve seen Saracens play for a long long time.

It’s a humiliation for Saracens.

This is their greatest test of all.
