The bright addition to Bedworth town centre that everyone needs to make note of
A lack of defibrillators in part of Bedworth town centre has been resolved. Trustees from the Nicolas Chamberlaine Trust said they were aware that there was not an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), known simply as a defibrillator, near the Almshouses or nearby in the town centre.
They approved the the installation of a defibrillator on the front wall of what was then Boots in All Saints Square. As well as the defibrillator, a bleed kit has also been placed within the cabinet, which can be used should there be a stabbing in the area.
The trustees said that access to the cabinet has been given to West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) on several occasions. But, thankfully, as yet neither the defibrillator or bleed kit have had to be used.

But, should there be an emergency within this area of the town, the potentially life-saving equipment is there. A spokesman for the Nicholas Chamberlaine Trust previously explained why they purchased the kits, saying: "We are delighted to have been able to purchase the defibrillator because it could be life saving should an adult or child be taken ill while in town.
"There are machines not too far away, but we felt it was important to have one close at hand, as any delay in giving treatment might lead to a tragic outcome. In one way we hope that it will never be required, but it is a comfort to know that the centre of Bedworth now has a potentially life saving device."
