Condensation on windows may not seem like a big deal but if not dealt with, it can cost you money and can make living in your home incredibly uncomfortable. An expert shared a handy tip for preventing window condensation, saying: "Pop a tiny amount [of washing up liquid] onto a dry microfibre cloth and rub all over the glass pane, you won't get smears as you are using the tiniest amount.

"This creates a barrier and prevents condensation. This is such a brilliant old-school tip that works so well." Lynsey also suggested this as an affordable alternative to buying a dehumidifier or window vacuum, the Express reports.

To prevent window condensation, it's crucial not to let moisture or humidity build up in your home. Ensure rooms are well-ventilated, especially when drying clothes, and avoid placing wet clothing on radiators, which can cause condensation.

Lynsey advised: "Dry clothes outdoors or in a room with good ventilation, open a window slightly, turn off the radiator and place your drying rack in front of a bright window to help dry faster. Close the door to this room whilst the window is open."

She added: "Alternatively look at heated clothes dryers. This has become more common due to the cost of using tumble dryers."

Remember to open the window slightly when cooking or after showering, as steam can cause dampness and window condensation, particularly during colder months.
