Bristol Airport evacuated after fire alarm goes off
Bristol Airport was evacuated this afternoon, Wednesday, September 11, after a fire alarm went off. Hundreds of passengers were asked to leave the departures hall at the airport before then being allowed back in, only to face huge queues at security.
One passenger travelling from the airport shared a photo shortly before 5pm of the crowds trying to get back through the gates to the airport security checks after the evacuation had taken place.
He said: "We are all having to re-join security as we had to leave the airport. The problem is, everyone left the airport so the integrity of their security has gone, so everyone has to re-join the security queue which has caused huge queues.

"We have been told any fire issues are sorted and there are now large queues to get back into security - so all is in order, there are just delays."
A spokesperson for the airport confirmed the incident, saying: "Bristol Airport experienced a fire alarm activation this afternoon, which resulted in the brief evacuation of passengers from an area within the departure lounge as a precaution. We apologise for any inconvenience experienced by customers and thank everyone for their patience during this time."
