The annual Bristol International Balloon Fiesta – normally lasting several days and featuring carnival rides and food stands – was curtailed this year to a one-time hot air balloon flyover on August 3, due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Video taken in Bristol, England, shows several hot air balloons warming up before further video shows an array of colorful balloons taking off from a field.
In a statement on their website, organizers of the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta said that the event – which in years past has attracted 500,000 visitors – couldn’t take place as normal as they had to “adhere to the governmental guidelines around social distancing.”
Instead they said their aim was to stage the “inaugural Fiesta Flypast,” which saw 43 balloons fly over the city. Credit: Matt Bayly via Storyful
