Bristol Blue Glass announces shop closure
The iconic Bristol Blue Glass, a staple of Bristol's identity, has announced it is to close its Bristol High Street shop in the new year. The much loved glass makers, who create everything from glassware and gifts, to Christmas decorations, have been operating in the city for more than 30 years.
But on Monday (November 18) the team took to social media to announce some 'sad news'. They wrote: "Bristol Blue Glass's High Street shop will be closing at the end of January 2025.
"It has been a struggle since reopening after Covid, and with changes within the city and more changes to come, it has been decided that when the lease runs out in January, it would be wise to close the doors for good."

For Bristol Blue Glass fans, however, all hope is not lost as the business confirmed this news did not mean they would be leaving Bristol or closing down completely. The post went on to say: "But not to worry, as our Bath Road retail store will still be open for business and the furnaces will still be roaring away for you to come and watch the makers.
"There are plenty of buses from the centre that run that way and it only takes five minutes (number 1, 522 and X39). We would like to thank our landlord @bristol_cameras for his support and help he has given us over the last few years. We could not have asked for a better landlord.
"And, of course, a massive thank you goes out for all the support and love we have had from our customers! Please do pop in before we close our doors... we are open Monday to Saturday, 10am till 5pm. And we hope to see you at the Bath Road store in the future."
In response to comments in the post, the team confirmed they would be running more courses, "not just bauble blowing", adding: "We have no intention of closing this down! Still thriving!"
