Bristol Rovers player ratings vs Wigan: Moore red card rubs salt into wounds after heavy defeat
Josh Griffiths - 5
Uncharacteristically well below par. The goalkeeper has been so impressive in a Bristol Rovers shirt so far that it doesn't, or shouldn't change, the overall assessment of his quality, but it was a poor day. Made a couple of saves but his mistake for Wigan Athletic's third goal early in the second half killed any faint chances of a Rovers fight back. Having not yet seen a replay, it's not 100 per cent clear whether the 23-year-old could have done better with the fourth but there will always be question marks when a goalkeeper is beaten at his near-post by a low free-kick.

Taylor Moore (sent off 84') - 5
Rovers' best player in my opinion up until the red card which is weird to say on a day where they conceded four. Won most of his individual battles and made some crucial blocks. Still well under par and the red card seems to be a poor moment off the ball. As soon as Maleace Asamoah Jr went down and the travelling Wigan fans were shouting, you knew what was coming.
James Wilson - 6
Similarly to Moore, one of Rovers' better players on the day as he won a good few of his duels but still way off the high standard he's set for himself this season. Did come close to scoring with a volley which you don't see often.
Clinton Mola - 5
Also decent in his battles but way off the standard he's set for himself. Didn't look comfortable positionally at times.
Luke Thomas - 5
Tried to force an opening for Rovers but largely quiet for the majority of the first half bar an opportunity to either cross or shot where he instead lost the ball. Another one capable of so much more.
Kamil Conteh - 5
In all honesty, the midfielder looked tired which you can't blame him for after the past two weeks he's had having had to travel long distances for international duty with Sierra Leone. Got himself stuck in at times but it was far too easy for Wigan to carve through him and his fellow midfielders.
Jake Garrett (off for Jamie Lindsay 61') - 6
You can tell the Blackburn Rovers loanee will be a popular figure with Gasheads because he never shys away from a challenge. Impressive in individual battles but a poor day defensively for Rovers as a collective.
Lino Sousa (off for Connor Taylor 46') - 6
The stand-in left wing-back looked dangerous when going forward with one particularly impressive carry right up to the goal line before standing up a cross to the back post with no one waiting. His own deliveries were solid but the 19-year-old struggled defending them. Taken off for tactical reasons but one of the better players in a difficult first half.
Isaac Hutchinson (off for Scott Sinclair 46') - 5
Had a few decent bursts forward on the ball but out of possession looked lost at times as the midfield really struggled defensively in the first half. You would have to say that was an opportunity not taken.
Ruel Sotiriou (off for Shaq Forde 61') - 5
Arguably harsh but the striker just didn't get into the game at all. Tried to make himself available but saw extremely little of the ball. No sniffs whatsoever.
Promise Omochere (off for Gatlin O'Donkor 69') - 5
Did his part defensively but had next to no sight of goal. You would assume he was taken off to manage his minutes. The game was lost at that point.
Substitutes:
Connor Taylor (on 46') - 5
Shaky moment just before the third goal, albet that was Griffiths' mistake. A few decent moments but could tell he hasn't played for a while. Will undoubtedly come in while Moore is suspended.
Scott Sinclair (on 46') - 5
Had next to no sniffs of goal as the third goal completely wiped out any remaining confidence. Rovers could have done with his energy but he hardly got the ball.
Jamie Lindsay (on 61') - 6
A few decent moments. Would like to see him start in the league now.
Shaq Forde (on 61') - 5
Similarly to Sinclair, didn't get the opportunity to make an impact in the final third.
Gatlin O'Donkor (on 69') - 5
Just had nothing to work with.
