Bristol waterfront cafe arson sparks police appeal

Police are investigating arson after a man started a fire outside a cafe in Bristol. The blaze was lit outside Society Café, in Farrs Lane along the waterfront at around 3.15am on Saturday, April 6.

The fire was eventually extinguished by a member of the public, Avon and Somerset Police said. The force is now attempting to identify a man who is believed to have information which could help their investigation.

He is described as white, around 5ft 8ins tall, of medium build, with a dark goatee beard. He is pictured wearing a dark-coloured hoody with reflective stripes on it, grey tracksuit trousers, grey Adidas trainers and a baseball cap.

Anyone who recognises the man, or who has any other information which could help enquiries, is asked to call Avon and Somerset Police on 101.

The force said in a statement: "We are appealing for the public’s help to identify this man following a fire in a café in Bristol in April. At around 3.15am on Saturday 6 April, an unknown man started a fire outside Society Café, in Farrs Lane, on Bristol’s waterfront.

"The fire grew before being put out by a member of public. Officers believe the man pictured has information which could aid their enquiries into the incident.

"He is white, around 5ft 8ins tall, of medium build, with a dark goatee beard. He is shown wearing a dark-coloured hoody with reflective stripes on it, grey tracksuit trousers, grey Adidas trainers and a baseball cap.
