Bristol woman to star on new ITV show Dress the Nation
A Bristol finance director is set to star in a new ITV series starting tonight. Maria is one of ten candidates on Dress the Nation.
The design challenge series, a partnership between M&S and ITV, is hosted by AJ Odudu and Vernon Kay. It documents the search process from start to finish and over the course of six episodes, ten candidates will compete to secure a highly coveted in-house design role, working alongside some of the best designers in the industry.
The contestants will be set a series of tasks which will assess their design, problem-solving, commerciality and collaboration skills.

The series goal is to find in-house design talent for M&S. The contestants will be set a series of tasks which will assess their design, problem-solving, commerciality and collaboration skills.
The winner will secure a life-changing role at M&S working alongside some of the best designers in the industry, and their own bespoke collection available in select stores.
Each week a judging panel – made up of M&S experts alongside celebrity guests – will select which contestants move forward to the next round. A panel of M&S customers come into the studio each week, to view the collections and give their feedback.
AJ Odudu said: “The contestants were absolutely incredible, they really gave it their all and I loved being on the journey with them. I can’t wait for everyone to meet our designers, and see their fantastic talent and ideas come to life.”
Vernon Kay said: “It was a totally brilliant experience meeting our budding designers and seeing them deliver incredible results week on week. Giving creative talent the opportunity to showcase their work is so important, and the project was fantastic to be a part of.”

Maria is a finance director who decided to start making and designing clothes only three years ago and dedicates all the time she possibly can to her craft.
She has always had a passion for clothes. Her earliest memory of fashion is watching Grace Kelly films on repeat and being completely obsessed with her outfits.
Maria wanted to study fashion but was unable to afford university, so all her fashion knowledge is completely self-taught.
Maria is very conscious about sustainability and all her designs are zero waste and repurposed – table cloths, bedding and even hospital curtains.
