Brit Awards 2017: Chris Martin makes surprise appearance for tribute duet with late George Michael
Chris Martin made a surprise appearance at this year’s Brit Awards to pay tribute to the late George Michael.
The Coldplay frontman, who was not scheduled to appear at this year’s ceremony, arrived on stage to sing classic Michael song A Different Corner on Wednesday night, following a tribute from Wham’s Ridgeley, Shirlie Holliman and Pepsi De Macque.
While Martin sang one part of the song, a large screen showed Michael singing the accompanying verses.
Although many people said that the performance brought a ‘tear’ to their eyes, others weren’t too keen on Martin’s tribute.

“On Christmas Day 2016, the greatest singer songwriter of his generation, an icon of his era, George Michael, was lost”, said Ridgeley.
“A supernova in the shining stars had been extinguished and it felt like the sky had fallen in.”
