Katy Perry cut loose on the dancefloor and helped choose some tunes at the Brit Awards after-party following her live performance at the ceremony.

The American singer teamed up with BBC Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw behind the DJ booth at the Universal Music bash.

The pair were joined by Ellie Goulding, who seemed in good spirits after the show.

Perry sang her new single Chained to the Rhythm at the awards, with a lavish stage production including giant skeleton puppets and backing dancers dressed as houses.

The skeletons were revealed to be a political dig at Donald Trump and Theresa May, with the giant models wearing the same outfits that the President and Prime Minister wore when they met at the White House in January.

The performance also included a technical hitch – as one of the backing dancers wearing a light-up house costume fell off the stage and into the crowd.

The ceremony also saw Little Mix pick up their first ever BRIT award, winning Best Single for Shout Out to My Ex.

“We honestly didn’t know where to go, we didn't think we’d win it,” said Jade Thirlwall. “We were just sitting there chin-wagging. This is for all our exes.”

David Bowie was given two posthumous awards – Best British Solo Male Artist and Best Album for Blackstar.

Bowie’s son Duncan Jones accepted the award, telling the crowd: “I lost my dad last year but I also became a dad.”

Speaking about his father, he said: “He’s always been there supporting people who are a little bit weird, a little bit strange, a little bit different. This award is for all the kooks, and the people who make the kooks."
