Brit Awards 2019: Jack Whitehall's best jokes, from Brexit digs to winding up Little Mix

While this year’s Brit awards winners were remarkably predictable, at least host Jack Whitehall was on hand to add some humour to proceedings.

The comedian offered a multitude of witty one-liners, cutting down the nominees and performers. Below are some of his best jokes from the night.

Whitehall after Hugh Jackman’s performance of “The Greatest Show”

“He’s Australia’s answer to Bradley Walsh.”

On George Ezra

“It’s the Prius of pop.”

On George Ezra again

“Yes, the Milky Bar kid’s all grown up.”

On Little Mix

“Their old boss Simon Cowell will be asking his surgeon to fix a smile on his face if they win big.”

On Nile Rodgers

“If he wins a Brit later, we’ll be lucky if it ends up being the door stop to his Grammy room.”

The first Brexit reference

“There have been so many groups getting back together. First the Spice Girls, then Bros and now Westlife. Suddenly a hard border with Northern Ireland doesn’t sound so bad.”

Speaking with Bros and referencing their documentary

“Are you glad to be H O M E at the B R I T S?”

Again with Bros

“We should speak about getting the kids out there not to wear protection.”

One of the Bros brothers to Whitehall

“Your conker is bigger than mine, look at the size of that conker.”

Introducing Little Mix and Ms Banks

“Girl bands tend to crash harder than Prince Phillip on a country drive”

Introducing Alice Levine

“She interviewed me last year, slurring like Wayne Rooney in an airport”

Talking with Shawn Mendes about his new underwear campaign

“All these years trying to break into your iCloud and you just give it away for free... Word of warning: the security are quite hot on suspicious packages.”

On the International winners

“It’s time to celebrate the International artists – from a distance, as none of them could be bothered to show up.”

On Shawn Mendes’s package, again

“Time to take a look at the international package. Steady, Shawn.”

On Ed Sheeran

“Give that man a knighthood. Preferably Sir Philip Green’s.”

Following Jess Glynne’s powerful no-makeup performance

“Without this foundation, I go from Jamie Redknapp to Harry Redknapp just like that.”

Speaking with Little Mix

When you left Simon Cowell, it raised a few eyebrows. Obviously not his, because they are surgically stuck there.”

On Little Mix and Piers Morgan’s ongoing feud over their nude photo shoot

“Voluptuous breasts, four chins - it must have been like looking in the mirror”

Again, on Bros

“By the time this is over, both Bros brothers will be bald.”

The Brit awards saw The 1975 and Calvin Harris take home two awards apiece. Meanwhile, The Carters posed before a painting of Meghan Markle dressed as Queen while accepting the Best International Group award. Other international artists to win awards included Drake and Ariana Grande – who were also unable to attend the awards ceremony.
