Update: The BRIT Awards 2019 has announced that Pink is getting this year's Outstanding Contribution to Music Award.

The US popstar – whose hits include 'Get the Party Started', 'Just Like a Pill', 'So What', 'Just Give Me a Reason' and loads, loads more – will also close the ceremony at The O2 London on Wednesday, February 20 with an exclusive performance.

She said in a statement: "I am so honoured to be recognised with the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award at the 2019 BRITs!

"Since the beginning of my career the British fans have been some of the most fierce and loyal in the world. I am humbled to receive this honour and be in the company of an illustrious group of British icons!"

Previous winners of the award have included Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, David Bowie, Queen and the Spice Girls.

Original story: It's the beginning of a new year, which only means one thing – the BRIT Awards are just around the corner.

And suitably, the nominees were announced today (January 12) on The BRITs Are Coming, with British acts biting their nails over whether they would get a nod for the biggest music awards in UK.

Well, it was certainly good news if your name was Jess Glynne, Anne-Marie, Dua Lipa, George Ezra or Little Mix who all scored a swathe of nominations ahead of the ceremony on February 20, hosted by Jack Whitehall.
