Brit awards: Hugh Jackman opens show with spectacular Greatest Showman performance

Hugh Jackman opened this year’s Brit awards ceremony by performing a hit from the musical film The Greatest Showman.

The actor, wearing a silver dinner jacket, sang the track “The Greatest Show” backed by numerous dancers and circus-themed performers – including fire-breathers.

Following the performance, host Jack Whitehall, calling Jackman “Australia’s answer to Bradley Walsh”.

Jackman will be touring tracks from The Greatest Showman, along with other musicals, later this year. Find out more about the tour here.

Artists who were up for awards included Dua Lipa, George Ezra and Florence + the Machine. On the night, The 1975 and Calvin Harris reigned victorious, taking home two awards each.

International artists to win awards included The Carters (Beyoncé and Jay Z), Drake and Ariana Grande – all of whom were unable to attend the awards ceremony in person.
