A fundraiser has been set up to support a Devon mum who lost her partner six months after relocating to Dubai with him. Laura Milford, who grew up in Exmouth before moving to Exeter, has been left with mounting costs since Deepak Doll's death.

The 44-year-old passed away after a cardiac arrest last month. A GoFundMe page has now been set up to cover immediate costs such as rent and bills for Laura and her 8-year-old daughter Sienna. It has been organised by Laura's mother Maddie Goble, who lives in Exeter, and has raised close to £7,000 so far.

Laura grew up in Exmouth before moving to Exeter in her early twenties. She then went on to work for Flybe, based at Exeter Airport, for 13 years.

Laura, aged 38, then made the decision to move to Dubai with Dee and Sienna in February this year. Dee left his job at Focus Group Exeter and began a new career working for a real estate company called Houstetic in Dubai.

After quickly fitting into their new way of life, the family's dream was shattered after Dee suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away suddenly. Laura has now been left to navigate the heart-breaking loss alone while facing significant financial challenges.

She said: "We are having to leave our rented family home and find lower cost accommodation but we would like to continue life here, my daughter loves it here, she is really settled and getting on well at school and has made so many friends. Moving back to the UK would be extremely unsettling now.

"I’m completely overwhelmed with the amount of support we have received, it’s made me very emotional, there are some incredibly kind people in the world."

The money from the GoFundMe page will be used for rent and bills while Laura makes decisions on her future. Any funds donated will make a "significant difference on their lives during this difficult time".

The GoFundMe fundraiser reads: "We are hoping to raise enough funds to help her cover immediate costs, such as rent, bills and to give her time to make decisions about their future.

"Any amount you can contribute will make a significant difference in their lives during this difficult time. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this page with others who might be able to help. Your support means the world to Laura and her daughter.

"Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any help you can provide. Your kindness and generosity are deeply appreciated."
