Britain blasted by lightning and flash floods as electrical storms strike overnight
Thunderstorms brought stunning scenes overnight – as well as a trail of devastation in their wake.
The night sky was lit up by a dazzling lightning display, with more storms predicted today.
Essex and Suffolk were hit by the storms at around 3am, which saw hundreds of homes lose power, while a fire broke out on the rood of a house in Bradwell.

Torrential rain caused some localised flooding as torrential rain lashed Britain in the early hours of the morning.
Some 50 properties were affected in a coastal village in Cornwall, while several people had to be rescued from their homes.
