New research has revealed that we’re a nation of ‘micro-criminals’ – with as many as 74 percent of British people admitting to an incredibly minor crime.

From taking plastic bags without paying for them to people telling porkies about their age in order to get a better deal, it seems that Britons aren’t afraid to commit a minor crime if it means that we can some cash.

Revealing all to YouGov, more than four in ten (43 percent) of respondents confessed that they had paid someone cash-in-hand knowing that they won’t pay tax – making it the most common micro-offence.

It was closely followed by illegal streaming – with respondents admitting to illegally watching TV shows, music or listening to music without paying for it.

And when it came to a gender divide, it seems that men are more likely to be micro-criminals than women – with 77 percent of men admitting an offence, contrasted to 71 percent of women.
