One of Britain’s poshest trains will be in Coventry next weekend. The Northern Belle will be heading departing from the city's station on Saturday (June 8).

It will be taking passengers on a steam-hauled trip over the picturesque Settle-Carlisle line. They will be welcomed with a red carpet and a glass of champagne before they board the gleaming umber-and-cream 1930s Pullman-style Northern Belle, which once formed part of the iconic Orient Express set-up.

It will pull out of Coventry at 7.10am and then passengers will tuck into a three-course brunch while more passengers are picked up at Birmingham International, Wolverhampton, Stafford and Crewe.

During the journey, the train's own resident band and a conjuror will wander through the carriages to entertain those on board. For the first part of the journey, the train will be pulled by a heritage diesel engine before a giant steam locomotive called Tangmere, which used to haul express trains from London to the South Coast, takes over at Carnforth.

Then after a short stop to explore Carlisle, a six-course dinner with wine will be served during the journey through the Yorkshire Dales to Settle. While next Saturday's trip is sold out, the Northern Belle will be back in Coventry on July 27 and October 19 for two more steam-hauled trips over the same route.

There will also be an excursion to Weymouth and the Dorset Coast in August, followed by a Christmas Lunch trip in December. For more details and to book, see the website here
