Britain's Got Talent viewers were left 'utterly confused' as judge Bruno Tonioli appeared to be receiving loud boos during the final of the hit ITV talent show. Fans queried the 'savage reaction' to the newest member of the judging panel, who joined the show last year after appearing on Strictly Come Dancing.

But the real reason for the boos quickly came to light. Other people quickly chimed in reassuring that it was actually a very positive reaction to the Italian former dancer.

Jack Miller was confused as he asked on X: "Why is Bruno getting booed every time he speaks." @sophaltacc agreed, commenting: "I’m lost, why is everyone booing at Bruno every time he talks?"

And Andy Goulding asked: "Why do the audience always boo Bruno on # BGT, even when he makes positive comments? Have I missed something?" The Twitter user quickly realised his mistake though as he realised the truth.

The crowd wasn't actually booing Bruno every time he spoke, but cheering his name. Andy added: "So he’s NOT being booed, they’re shouting “Bruuunooo”. Now I feel daft!"

JC said: "They’re not, they’re shouting Brooooono! But I agree it does sound like booing!!" @David47203456 added: "People say Bruno is getting booed by the audience and others say they're chanting Bruno. In his early appearances Bruno didn't really have a clue what the show was all about but he has got better since and his biggest contribution now is his enthusiasm."

Bruno, 68, is known as a choreographer and dancer. He has judges on several TV shows including Strictly Come Dancing, DanceX and the American television talent shows Dancing with the Stars and Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann.
