Britain’s Got Talent spoilers follow.

Britain’s Got Talent was plunged into chaos in tonight’s (May 6) episode, with judge Simon Cowell drenched in gunge as Mr Blobby ran wild.

The costumed contestant was already on the wrong side of the head judge from the outset, with Simon revealing that he “hated” the character.

As the contestant embarked on a less-than-fruitful magic show, in which he pressed the red buzzer on himself, they called over Simon for one big trick.

As he entered Mr Blobby’s Disappearing Box, the contestant tried in vain to make the judge vanish, but a clearly displeased Simon would remain with each open of the door.

His frustration would soon turn to annoyance, however, as Mr Blobby pulled a devious prank and covered him in pink slime, leaving the entire audience in slime.

As fellow judges Bruno Tonioli, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden looked on in shock (and amusement), Mr Blobby then came for hosts Ant and Dec, with the latter finding a place to hide for fear of being dirtied.

Viewers were ecstatic at the surprising act, with one user deeming Mr Blobby “the real king.” Another user wrote: “This was hysterical. Not ashamed at all of how much I enjoyed it”, whilst another person tweeted: “Easy golden buzzer - here is your #BGT2023 winner #MrBlobby #GOAT.”

The Golden Buzzer, however, was reserved for the following contestant, who wowed the crowd and judges with a unique approach to musical performance.

Hailing from France, MB14 showcased his vocal and beatboxing skills with a performance which incorporated choral vocals, sound effects and loop pedalling to create one continuous melody.

Ant and Dec were so enthralled by the performance that they hit the golden buzzer before the judges could utter their thoughts, with Simon subsequently referring to the display as “one of the great auditions.”

Britain's Got Talent airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
