Alesha Dixon has confirmed she will briefly 'leave' the Britain's Got Talent judging panel before this weekend's final, as a 'surprise' announcement was made during Thursday night's semi final.

Having won Strictly Come Dancing and then become a judge on the BBC show, Alesha made the switch to ITV in 2012 and has been a permanent fixture on the panel ever since, while also releasing music on a rather intermittent basis, compared to the height of her pop stardom as a member of Mis-Teeq.

But this week rapper and singer Alesha is back to her music, with her launching new single Ransom this week. She has been promoting the track on her social media channels over the last few days and after Britain's Got Talent hosts Ant and Dec hinted that she had something up her sleeve, Alesha revealed she would be stepping away from the BGT panel and onto the stage to give a performance.

The news was then made official on the BGT X account in a post that read: 'You heard it! Our very own Alesha Dixon will be performing TOMORROW NIGHT. Get ready for some serious vibes" Alesha might not want to look at the comments thread as the reaction to her singing on the show was mixed to say the least, with some viewers excited to see her on stage and others anything but.

One fan responded: "I am so excited for this performance, I can imagine that it will be amazing. Alesha is my favourite BGT judge on the show," with another writing: "We love Alesha." However, some of the other reactions were far from favourable, with one critic replying: "Better get the red buzzers ready if no autotune" and another, rather harshly, commenting: "Thanks for the warning, I’m off down the pub."
