British boy, 4, drowns in swimming pool at holiday resort on Greek island of Kos

A four-year-old British boy has drowned in a swimming pool while on holiday with his family on the Greek island of Kos.

The child is believed to have wandered from his hotel room at the Atlantica Holiday Village resort while his parents slept on Saturday.

It was reported that the boy was given CPR after being pulled from the pool at the resort but died before emergency services arrived.

His parents were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and endangering the life of a minor but were later released, The Sun reported.

A police spokesman in Greece told the newspaper: “It is common for next of kin to be arrested in such circumstances.

“But as is always the case, they were not held in police custody and were immediately freed."

A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are supporting the family of a British child who died in Kos, Greece, and our staff are in touch with the local authorities."
