British Gas, EDF, Ovo, EON, Octopus customers who agree to pay £22 will have bill slashed
Three energy appliances draining your British Gas, OVO, EDF, Eon and Octopus energy bills have been revealed. The stark warning and alert comes days ahead of the new Ofgem energy price cap, taking the average bill to £1,771, kicks in.
According to the Energy Savings Trust, unnecessary heat loss could be costing you around £70 per year. But British Gas, OVO, EDF, EON and Octopus customers can act now to save the money, the experts at the body have said.
"There are many simple yet effective ways to insulate your home, which can significantly reduce heat loss while lowering your heating bills," the Energy Saving Trust stated. The alert comes before a £149 hike in bills from next week.

"Even little fixes around the home can mount up to significant savings in your energy bills." The EST explains how a hot water cylinder jacket, which helps instulate it, could save households £35 - and they can be purchased for £22.
Households who spend on draught-proofing strips, for £5 on Amazon, can also cut bills too. Spending just a few quid on draught-proofing your home could save you £35 a year on your energy bills, Energy Saving Trust says.
It means households paying £27 can get £70 handed back towards their energy bills. For just a few pounds you can buy strips that can prevent cold air from entering through windows and doors. You can also buy draught excluders, bleed your radiators and insulate your water tank.
The EST says typical places to plug draughts includes the keyhole and letterbox, as well as gaps at the bottom of doors. Gaps in between floorboards can also be proofed. The news comes just as energy bills are set to rise again from October by an average of £12 a month thanks to the new cap.
