British Gas has urged customers to consider stockpiling bottled water as we head towards a NEW snow blast this week. British Gas has issued snow tips on its website, ahead of fresh snowfall being predicted and forecasted by the WX Charts website.

WX Charts shows accumulations and flurries on November 22 and November 23. "It’s a good habit to have at least three days’ worth of food and essentials stored in an easy-to-reach part of your home," British Gas has explained on its snow blog.

"That’s things like medicines, drinking water, non-perishable food and snacks, and extra blankets. You should also keep a torch, batteries and a phone charger close by too." It adds: "When severe weather hits, you might find yourself stranded away from home. So plan how you’ll stay in contact with the rest of your household and where you’ll meet if you can’t get home due to heavy snow

"Check in on elderly or vulnerable relatives and neighbours to make sure they’ve got everything they need to get through a cold snap. Consider keeping your pets indoors when the weather turns particularly cold – and remember, anti-freeze is highly toxic to both dogs and cats.

"Be careful on icy paths and when clearing heavy snow." The BBC weather forecast for Thursday explains: "Tomorrow, showers in Scotland and Northern Ireland, mainly for northern areas and wintry on higher ground. Chance of patchy rain and perhaps snow for a time in the far south. Dry and bright elsewhere."

The outlook for this weekend adds: "Friday will be windy with variable cloud and scattered showers, many of which wintry. Saturday will see a significant turnaround as a much milder airmass will push in from the south-west, along with strong winds and spells of rain. However, snow is expected initially on high ground over northern areas of the UK. Sunday looks to stay very windy, with bright periods and showers."
