Election images and a stark reminder of the Westminster terror attack are among the pictures going on show in a new exhibition celebrating the best of British press photography.

Assignments 2017 gathers the best images taken by members of the British Press Photographers’ Association.

BPPA member Jeff Moore said the selection “really needs to be seen on a wall for viewers to fully appreciate the variety, the quality and the impact that the images bring to newspapers”.

Images include a portrait of Wayne Rooney, Jeremy Corbyn reading to children in Bristol, Prince Philip’s last solo engagement and the Duchess of Cambridge at sister Pippa’s wedding, as well as Standard photographer Nigel Howard’s Grenfell Tower picture.

The exhibition opens today and runs until Monday at the Truman Brewery on Brick Lane.
