British stars scoop Tony Awards as Jennifer Hudson achieves rare accolade

British talent fared well at the 75th annual Tony Awards, scooping several top prizes on a night that celebrated increasing inclusion in the theatre. Accolades including best leading actor in a play went to Simon Russell Beale and the direction categories were dominated by Sir Sam Mendes and Marianne Elliott. Jennifer Hudson achieved the rare distinction of having won all four of the US's top entertainment honours – an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony – after she won for her work on A Strange Loop. The Tony Awards, which honour the best of onstage productions, took place on Sunday night at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
