Yahoo News Britney announces end of Las Vegas residency: Why we loved it despite nip slips and lip syncing

Superstar Britney Spears has revealed she’ll be waving goodbye to her ‘Piece of Me’ Las Vegas show at the end of the year.

The 35-year-old singer’s music extravaganza at Planet Hollywood is set to end on December 31 and the star has released a statement in which she admitted she never could have imagined how “magical” the experience would be.
“As I prepare to say goodbye to ‘Piece of Me,’ I had no idea how magical this experience would be. Having my fans from around the world come see my show has been amazing. I love Las Vegas and will miss performing this show,” she said.
But her manager Larry Rudolph hasn’t ruled out the possibility that Britney – who released her ninth album ‘Glory’ last year – will bring her show to another Vegas venue.
He told the Las Vegas Review-Journal: “We are done with this show, and our next move is undecided. We are still talking with Caesars Entertainment and other interested parties in Las Vegas.
“Anything is possible. We have made zero decisions. We expect a lot of interest from all parties. Britney basically sells out every show, and she loves Las Vegas, she loves performing in Vegas, and Vegas is a possibility going forward.”
We’ve loved covering Brit’s ‘Piece of Me’ show for many reasons. Way back in December 2013, the ‘Toxic’ hitmaker was swamped by excited fans on the Las Vegas strip and stopped traffic as she kicked off her explosive residency.
Since then, more than 700,000 people have seen her perform.
Her run has been marked with many highs and very few lows. Some people remarked on her lip syncing when her headset fell off during one performance last year, but we can forgive her for that!
Another time, the pop princess made us chuckle when she told the men in the audience that they could suck her “f***ing toe” after she first praised the female members of the crowd.
She said: “Look how beautiful the girls are, oh my God. Men, frankly, can suck my f***ing toe. But girls, I love you!”
Girl power!
Britney even convinced stars like Nicole Richie and Howey from Backstreet Boys to be her willing slaves, as she chained them and forced them to crawl on all fours.
The star must have been doing something right. In 2015 she received a $5million pay rise after Planet Hollywood convinced the singer to sign on for another two years. Not only did her wage sky rocket to a whopping $35 million-a-year, she also got to do fewer shows.
Meanwhile, the star – who has sons Sean, 11, and Jayden, 10, with ex-husband Kevin Federline – has managed to find contentment and success in her life since she started the show aged 32.
She said recently: “I like my 30s way more than my 20s, my 20s were horrible. [Being] In my teens was fun but I like 30s, the 30s are great. You know who you really are.”
Tickets for Britney’s final run of her ‘Piece of Me’ residency will go on sale April 14.
