Britney Spears accused of animal cruelty after she posts photo of 'unworn' $6k snakeskin heels

PETA has accused Britney Spears of animal cruelty after the star posted a photo of her $6,000 snakeskin heels on Instagram.

The musician was variously attacked for spending so much money, wearing snakeskin and supposedly never wearing the shoes - although pictures prove that she has, in fact, donned the colorful creations at least once.

The 'Womanizer' singer shared a picture of her multi-colored platform Christian Louboutin snakeskin heels on Instagram captioned, “Four years ago I bought my first pair of Christian Louboutin snakeskin heels that were 6,000 dollars .... PS I’ve never worn them,” and some of her more than 22 million followers were displeased.

Some commenters were simply upset with how much the signature red-bottom shoes cost, while others accused Spears of animal cruelty.

However, a few fans suggested outfit choices so she would be able to wear them in the future.

PETA reached out to Business Insider to share its thoughts and urged Spears to donate her shoes to the organization so they could use them for research.

This isn’t the first time PETA has spoken out about the former Disney star. In 2008, they asked if she was a “clueless animal abuser,” citing her 2001 MTV Video Music Awards ‘Slave 4 You’ performance which famously involved a live snake.

Despite the Instagram caption, Spears appears to have worn the shoes at least once.

She was snapped wearing the same exotic and instantly recognizable pair on March 22, 2013, during a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada.
