Congratulations are in order for Britney Spears and Sam Asghari, who have announced that they have got engaged.

The 'Me Against the Music' singer shared an Instagram post of a few short videos cut together, showing off her ring and posing for the camera with her new fiancé. Adorably, she's cut herself off saying "Yeeeeeeees!" when asked by Sam if she likes her ring.

"I can't f**king believe it," she wrote in the caption. Tons of fans and celebrities commented, including actress Octavia Spencer, Drag Race star Michelle Visage and 'Stars Are Blind' icon Paris Hilton, who wrote "Congratulations love!! So happy for you! Welcome to the club!"

Over on his Instagram, Sam posted a photo of the pair sharing a kiss, which is covered by Britney flipping the camera the bird, proudly displaying her engagement ring.

On his Instagram Stories he wrote: "My phone exploded today! Thank you for the overwhelming love and congratulations! We both love every single one of you!"

He also wrote: "Thank you everyone who is concerned about The prenup! Of course we're getting iron clad prenup to protect my jeep and shoe collection incase she dumps me one day," alongside two laughing face emoji.

The engagement comes shortly after the news that Britney's father Jamie Spears has filed a petition to end the conservatorship that she has been under since 2008.

The singer spoke publicly in court about how she considers the arrangement to be "abuse", and stated that she has an IUD stopping her from getting pregnant that she isn't allowed to remove.

Since then, Britney and her new lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, have tried to bring an immediate end to the conservatorship. This petition from her father could mean that her goal could well be achieved, although it's not officially ending just yet.

Jamie's primary attorney Vivian Thoreen said in a statement: "As Mr Spears has said, again and again, all he wants is what is best for his daughter. If Ms Spears wants to terminate the conservatorship and believes that she can handle her own life, Mr Spears believes that she should get that chance."
